Hello,
I'm running OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6 on my laptop and I'm trying to import my 4k vides from my iphone x(4k at 60 fps) and everytime I try, I get a pop up saying it's an unsupported file type. Any recommendations on how to import my videos to my laptop?

If I’m misunderstanding your question, feel free to reply with more details.

Try going to Settings/Photos and look under “Transfer to Mac or PC” section (at the bottom), check if “Automatic” is selected.
If that doesn’t work go to Settings/Camera/Formats and see if “Most Compatible” is selected.
If all the above are correct try 4k@30.
