Where is the ECG App?

It was certainly not clearly explained in the keynote. In fact, I'd say the keynote was very misleading with the statement about FDA clearance. Who knew that word clearance didn't mean what a layman would think it means?

The fact that this huge feature (the only reason I upgraded from my series 3) is not available yet, should be shown on a pop-up when purchasing a series 4.

It better be in a software upgrade in 2018 as promised or I'm going to be demanding something from Apple to make it right.

If the app really appears before the end of the year then I will be happy. Let's just hope for that.

Otherwise, I'd say the statement that Apple had received FDA clearance made it sound like it is a done deal. And the fact that there was a demo of the feature made it seem like it was ready to go.

I never took it as that way and Apple has always shown features that were not yet ready for release. But I very clearly heard them say that the ECG app would be released later this year. Did you not hear this?

Time is dwindling down to 51 days till EO yr 2018 and no words on Apple Watch EKG APP Active yet.

As a doctor you will understand the need for regulatory approval and a fully debugged product. They might not get the debug part right first time, but there is no legal way they can release any clinical function without all the approvals signed off.

Yes, same identical reason I bought my SS gold 44mm Apple Series 4 watch. EKG feature app and analysis of my Heart irregular rhythms. Yes I can read some portions or parts of my EKG and I’m not a doctor..

Apple as I have heard doesn’t even look or read these posts. Maybe I’m wrong. Or I’ll wait till Dec 31st.

Absolutely agree Apple can not release an unapproved non-regulatory Clinical EKG heart detection device function that is incorrect some of the time an correct sone of the time. Dec 31st is near.

Because Apple is not stupid. Releasing an app that was still in beta which people would use to make life or death decisions would be, in addition to lawsuits waiting to happen, unethical.

I’m agreeing agreeing with you. Beta can could be a restricted controlled SW EKG app that a controlled group of testers could try and document. Similar to the study Apple did with Stanford University. Just trying to get Apple to get more people pleasing like they seem to be in there unveiling of new products devices or technologies.

I’ve worked with BETA SW in other areas of technology w/limited strict controls. Like I’ve said Dec 31st is not tooooo far away.

Is anyone counting the days down till EKG SW launch 🚀 by end of year? 35 days left till Happy New Year’s Eve. It does not look like the Apple SW developers are cognizant bearers if good release news. Secretive Apple business::: practices helping or distracting future Apple future business. I do not really think so.

I take your point. My understanding is that the AirPad had some significant thermal issues that Apple incorrectly thought would be addressed. In other words, it was a physics issue. The ECG app does not have the same issue. The hardware is there and it works. This is a software release and is a different animal.

Well, if it doesn't come out, we'll all have to deal with really cranky people going on about how Apple lied to them. If it does come out, we'll have to deal with all the people complaining about how it doesn't work the way they want/expected, it doesn't work properly or that you can't changes the colors. So, not much of a bet from a support perspective. 😉

At 77 years old, I waited for the Watch Series 4 (GPS+Cellular) Alum 44mm, iOS 12 because of the ECG, or I would not have bought a time piece I did not need! Later this year means Apple has until midnight of Dec 31, 2018. Let's see what happens?
