I created a symlink following a guide to backup my phone on an external drive. Not having access to any iTunes files on my mac and not having access to the broken drive has basically made my phone incapable of backing up! When I try to backup, I get a corrupt backup error.
I have no idea how to fix this. iTunes preferences doesn't list any backup data.

Find the symlink and put it in the Trash.
Look for the symbolic link in the "~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/" link in that article.
There is no backup on my mac to delete. iTunes probably thinks it's on the external drive (which broke) and hence says it's corrupt. I need to delete the symlink.
I might as well just create a new user for backing up my phone.
That's the thing, I cannot find it. I tried deleting the iTunes files on my mac. Did not help.
Where did you store it? Have you tried searching for "alias"?
A year or so ago. I am absolutely new to all this. I had just followed a guide back then. Searching for "alias" in the finder?
DownloadEasyFind 4.9.3 and use it to search the whole machine. Simple and fast.
iTunes shows no backup in the preferences. And doesn't let me back up.
