I just bought my iPhone X and it has just shut off at around 50% battery life the last three days, I work most days and don’t use my phone and it just shuts off, had iPhone 7+ and it last the whole day. I upgraded to ios 12 on iPhone x.

You have 14 days to return iPhone.
But first try a reboot press the side volume button up quickly then side volume button down quickly then press &hold just the power button down until you see apple logo.

Go to the store you bought it from, while it's under warranty you might have a faulty unit.
