USB Keyboard disables Dock

I have a MacBook running El Capitan and when I plug in a USB keyboard to use I cannot access the Dock. I can SHOW the dock, but I cannot hide the dock and make it show by moving the mouse to the bottom of the screen. Won't work by moving it with a mouse. Won't work moving it with the trackpad. Won't work moving it with a trackball. Only way to get the dock to work again is unplug the USB keyboard.

Oh did I mention it;s an Apple extended keyboard?

Any ideas? Thanks,

John

Ok a little more experimentation-- its the Kensington trackball that is preventing the dock from popping up.

Go figure. No idea how as it;s just running as a dumb peripheral since Kensington never got around to updating any drivers for this beyond 10.8. Any Ideas other than disabling it? The trackball prevents my hand and wrist form hurting. I use it instead of the mouse.

And call the ID-10-T brigade. they have a new candidate for leader!

I had not used this with may laptop before so I thought I'd take a few minutes and take it apart and de-fuzz the inside. Cleaned up nicely. Moved around the screen great but borked the Dock.

Welllllllll......

When I put it together one button got stuck pushed down and that was the problem. Re-fized it and now all is well.

*sigh* one of those days.

Oh all this because my iMac screen went black. i can share into the machine, but not use it. Won't power into an external monitor either.
