Screen Time Password Reset

Use the Restrictions Passcode you set for your previous phone. Restrictions moved to Screen Time in iOS 12. If you don't recall the passcode you set up for Restrictions, you're going to have to restore your phone as new and build it back manually. Unfortunately, your backup did contain the passcode requirement you set, whenever you set it (which could have been years ago, btw.)

Well, I'm sorry, but the Screen Time passcode is indeed pulled from the previous Restrictions Passcode. If you have forgotten that passcode, you'll need to restore your phone as new (not from backup) and then redownload apps, contacts, photos, etc.

In my case, I've found that the passcode to enter ScreenTime is the same I used for Restrictions.

(BTW Restrictions are now grouped under Settings>ScreenTime, 4th option "Content&Privacy).

You may be under the impression I work for Apple? This is a user to user only forum. None of us work for Apple. We're people taking our personal time to help others.

If Face ID could reset the passcode for restrictions, that wouldn't be secure at all. And for parents, it would mean their kids could undo anything the parent set up.

But the solution to restore the phone is really the only way out of a forgotten restrictions passcode. Or, you can live with the restrictions and not use Screen Time. You don't have to use Screen Time if you don't want to and your phone will operate exactly as its been operating.

I found a way to do it...Just sign out of iCloud. And then sign back in and it’s gone

Seriously, Apple? This is the best you can do? I don’t recall ever setting a restrictions password and now my kid’s phone is disabled every night and my only option to override it is to rebuild my phone? Why not reset with FaceID? This is nuts.

Just like Kevin, I cannot turn off or reset screentime. I understand that Apple used an old setting for that application. However, apple needs to find a way for us users to reset that specific password without starting the phone from new. This is a big irritant.

Sign into Screen Time on the #3, using the passcode she set. Then turn off Screen Time. Now go to Screen Time and set it up with a new Passcode, then confirm the new Passcode. But whatever you do, PLEASE PLEASE write that code down somewhere safe for easy recall should you forget.

Screen Time Password Reset

So I upgraded to IOS 12 and don’t ever remember setting up screen time or setting a password for that matter. I got a weekly report today so I go in to turn it off and it needs a password. Well I never set it up so I have no idea what it could be. How do I reset the screen time password without wiping my phone. Just FYI I have no issues with any other passwords for my phone. Just this one. I’ve tried the same code to get on my phone without succes!

I have the same question. My password for everything is 6 digits and this screen time is 4 digits. HELP please

Just to be clear- Screen Time passcode is NOT the same as Restrictions passcode Please help. I’m now up to 15 min lock out

Apple needs to do an update for this to force reset. My restrictions passcode does not work either. Nothing works
