New lock screen indicator

I updated to iOS 12 and I now see a thin grey line under the battery life indicator and WiFi strength indicator on my iPad lock screen. I can’t find any description of it no matter how I search. Just in case it’s important - the OCD part of me simply must know what it is. Anybody?

That's where the "Control Center" is hiding now - swipe down from that spot & you'll get the Control Center menu.
