iOS 12 cameras and flashlight not working, fixes?

Literally bought a new iPhone 8 plus yesterday and updated it to ios 12 when I got home. Now the cameras and flashlight won’t work. I’ve reset settings and I’ve done a hard reset. Is this a hardware problem or a iOS 12 problem that I should just wait on?

Hello Rauser28,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with your new iPhone. I am happy to recommend a couple troubleshooting steps and articles to assist you.

First, I recommend force closing the Camera app: Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then, restart your device: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If the issue remains, I recommend checking these two troubleshooting articles, and verifying the brightness of the flashlight is turned up, so it is working.

Change the brightness

In iOS 11 and later, you can change the brightness of the flashlight:

  1. On an iPhone X or later, swipe down from the upper-right corner to open Control Center. Or on an iPhone 8 or earlier, iPad, or iPod touch, swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen to open Control Center.
  2. Press deeply User uploaded file.
  3. Drag the slider up or down.

Thanks and have a wonderful day.
