iMessages disappearing on new iPhone 8

Whenever I go to send a text, whether it’s 1 word or 80, it gets to 9/10 of the way to send and stops (as if I have no connection and it cannot send it), and then the message disappears and it claims it sent. I have no problem receiving messages, but this issue happens a lot. I recently got a new iPhone 8 plus so it can’t be that the new update is incompatible with the phone. I have plenty of storage left on my brand new phone and I’m getting kind of annoyed at the fact I’m having more issues with a new phone than I had with my 7 plus that I had for a year and a half. It doesn’t matter who the recipient is either, the texts still bug out.
