Help me! My iPhone X won't charge.

Hello everyone! I purchased an iPhone X from Apple's website almost two months ago. Before I go on, I'm unsure of my iPhone's processor speed, I have about 238 GBs of memory left out of a 256 GB storage capacity. I currently use iOS 12.

Before anyone asks, yes, I purchased my iPhone X from this very website, not some website I thought was Apple's. Anyways, when my iPhone came in the mail, (sometime in late July or early August) I was ecstatic! This was my very first time using an Apple product, I had just switched from an LG phone - before then it was an Android. After setting up Face ID and creating an iCloud account for the first time, my device suddenly restarted. I didn't think much of it, I mean it turned itself right back on. I set up everything again and to my disbelief, it restarted a second time! And then a third time, a fourth time, fifth time, et cetera...

After a full day of setting up my new device and having it restart countless times, I decided to finally let it charge. I thought, "You know what, maybe I should let it rest. I used it straight out if its package so it's probably tired. I'll try again tomorrow!" Upon plugging in my lightning cable into my iPhone, nothing happened! It was like my device didn't even recognize what I had inserted into it.

So, I looked into it. I searched up ways of how to fix it on Google and YouTube. I tried turning it off and back on again, soft restarting it and hard restarting it, (Yes, holding down the side button for thirty seconds!) Nothing worked. I decided I should probably perform a DFU restoration on the iPhone.

I put my device on my nightstand and played some video games on my Xbox One for a few minutes before I headed off to bed, as it was almost midnight. In the middle of the gameplay, I heard a very loud and startling alarm come from my iPhone, I turned around to check what it was. To my astonishment, the local police department was on the other end. The alarm I heard was my Emergency SOS going off and my iPhone had dialed 911 by itself... I frantically hung up but right afterward it decided to sound off the alarm a second time and tried dialing every emergency contact I had set in my iPhone. I turned off my Emergency SOS and turned off auto-calling as soon as I good, thankfully that never happened again.

It was the next day, I reviewed the tutorial on how to DFU restore my iPhone and was ready to do the task. To keep it sweet and short, I successfully DFU restored my iPhone X and it not only could recognize it was charging but it would actually charge! As well as I could use my iPhone without fear of it restarting or calling the police by itself! All was good, for now...

Fast forward about three weeks, it was my first day as a freshman in college. I woke up, plugged my charger into my device and took a shower. When I returned, I noticed the percentage didn't change a bit. My heart dropped and I thought to myself, "Not this again..." I turned off my device and went to school. Came home, turned it on, plugged it in, and it began to charge again and the percentage actually went up! I was relieved.

A week and a half later, it was my fourth day as a freshman in college. I woke up, plugged my charger into my device, and took a shower. I came back, noticed the percentage didn't change at all, my heart dropped yet again and I said the same thing to myself, "Not this again..." I turned it off, went to school, came home turned it on, plugged it in, and it... didn't charge.

Nothing seemed to truly fix it for more than a day. I had turned it off and back on again, soft restarted it, hard restarted it, (yes... holding the side button down for thirty seconds) but to no avail. Some days it would charge, other days it was a battle of hard restarting and praying to a god I don't believe in to get it to charge.

This went on for a little more than a week. I finally decided it was time for another DFU restore, yay...

Mmk, DFU restored it, all was great, again! For about five days... Then can you guess what happened? I plugged in the lightning cable, set my device down, did something, came back, the percentage didn't change whatsoever.

Another quick note, I was walking a person I knew to their home and when walking back to my house I dropped my iPhone X on the road... Picked it up, and there was a small shatter on the top left of the screen with four very small cracks protruding out of it. Not to mention the two scratches that were already plaguing my screen from going against my jean's studs when putting my iPhone in my pocket, awesome!

Anyways, for about another week it was a constant question in my mind if my iPhone X would charge. Then, here I am today. I decided to DFU restore for the third time, I mean, third time's a charm, right?! Nope. I DFU restored it, and after it was completed I plugged in my charger. It wouldn't even charge at all. Not even DFU restoring it could help it this time!

Something else I forgot to note, I checked the iPhone X's charging port, the lighting connector, cable, USB connector, charging brick and wall outlet countless times. I've even attempted to charge it using a different wall outlet, nothing works!

So here I am, writing this. I have more than enough money to send in my iPhone X for repairs. Upon purchasing my iPhone X, I bought AppleCare+ coverage alongside it - totaling to about $1,456.51 USD... just to have it not work properly. My question is: What could be the problem? I want to send in my iPhone X for a screen replacement, but should I also order a battery replacement too? Lastly, is this problem normal? Or did I just so happen to get the rotten apple out of the bunch?

Thanks!

Xavier
