iPhone Xs Max Color Temperature

I recently got the new iPhone Xs Max and immediately upon the unboxing, I noticed the screen color temperature is WAY more "warm" than that of the iPhone 8 Plus I had before it. I have completely disabled True Tone and Night Shift, and still, the screen is just objectively more orangish than my iPhone 8 Plus and iPad Pro. On an interesting note, if I look at the screen even SLIGHTLY off angle, the color temperature appears much cooler and natural. And yes--I am well aware this is characteristic of OLED displays. And I have also heard some people claim it is due to the glue still drying under the display, and that I should give it a few more days. I can't speak for that, but what I can say is that side by side, the iPhone Xs Max has a more orangish looking display than any other Apple device I've ever owned. Is anyone else experiencing this?

iPhone Xs Max, iOS 12, null

hello 🙂 I ve recently got my Xs Max 256GB just like you and ive been experiencing problems like yours. I am going to the apple store for exchange on sept.26 let me know how your troubles have been solved.

I have noticed it since today as I still have my iPhone X as my main phone for everyday use, and I have not fully switched to XS max due to my case coming in at October. :/ shame I spent $2000 for OLED display looking orange hopefully replacement will have same color saturation as my iPhone X.

Not the same thing. Changing night shift and/or trutone doesn’t change the bluish tint when you tilt the phone. It’s a oled thing. They all do it. LCDs don’t have this trait. I prefer the LCD on the 8 Plus by far over the Max’s screen. Just as sharp and no blue tint.

I have this problem as well and I find it really frustrating. Definitely a first world problem but it frustrating as a photographer to spend all this time calibrating my monitors and be diligent about color control and then see my images on my phone and they look nothing like they’re supposed to.
