Hi, wondering if anyone can help me, i am trying to connect my old 3rd gen ipad to my apple tv 4k and having no luck. I have tried an itunes reinstall on my ipad and checked all network connections, all my other ios devices connect fine.
there is simply no option to start airplay on my ipad, it is running ios 9.3.5 which is the latest it can run

As newer Apple TV boxes have been released, they need newer iOS versions/requirements to use certain features and features that are only available with newer iDevices.
Your iPad 3 is 6 years old, now, and hasn’t had any iOS upgrades/updates in over 2-1/2 years.
Your only other option to stream content from your iPad 3 is a hardwired connection using Apple’s digital AV adapter and a HDMI cable connected to one of your TV’s HDMI connections.

I think you need iOS 11.4 or later to stream to tvOS 12.
Thats a real shame if correct as i was keeping my old pad to stream only 😟
