MacBook Pro won’t start but displays folder icon with question mark

I tried turning my MacBook Pro on but on startup a folder icon with question mark starts flashing and it won’t start up. I tried going into recovery mode by pressing Command R but it still displays that icon. Let me know what can be done.

macbook pro cannot start hi, my macbook pro 15” with the touchbar can’t start and it keeps flashing the folder with the question mark icon. i tried rebooting it by pressing command option r keys and tried to first aid all the disks but nothing works. i was just editing videos and my laptop’s just been with me for around half a year and i’m disappointed that it has encountered quite a few problems. looking forward to your reply! thanks!
