Continuity Camera fail - "Device timed out"

Just upgraded to Mojave, and tried Continuity Camera.

Opened a new doc in Pages, right-clicked, and chose "Import from iPhone" and "Take Photo". I took the photo.

A few seconds later, in Pages, I got an error message: "Could not import from iPhone. The device timed out."

So I tried doing this with my iPad, and this time when I took the photo with the iPad, I saw "Use Photo" on the screen. Hit that, and the photo went into Pages.

But with the iPhone, I never get "Use Photo".

What's wrong here?

iMac, macOS Mojave (10.14), null

I have the same issue.

Originally it was timed out.

Then it said I needed to activate two-factor authentication (which is already enabled).

Now it's back to timed out. Happens both on my iphone to mac and ipad to mac.

Hello, I think I figured this out. Had the same problem of "device timed out".

To fix it I went to bluetooth on my iphone and manualy connected to my mac (as it was not listed there as my device before, so I figured that my iphone didn't recognise mac through bluetooth as they were not used together before) and tried the feature then. Next I disconnected my devices and now they find each other with no problem and don't need to be constantly connected (also my mac now appears in "my devices" list in bluetooth menu).

Hope this helps to someone as I searched alot for solution, but only this worked for me and I had to figure it out myself. 🙂

Mojave "Take Photo" was never a problem with my iPhone 8+, but struggled with timeout issues on iPhone 6...Came across this thread when searching for a fix..

Following steps made it work on iPhone 6

1. Apple ID - Sign out of IPhone

2. Sign in

3. Reboot the phone

4. try now ;-)

I worked !!!!, although it take 1-2 seconds for the camera app to open on phone (in 8+, it was instant)
