You Can't Open the application "Safari" because it is being updated

"You Can't Open the application "Safari" because it is being updated." This is the message I get when I attempt to open safari. Have shutdown and powered up. Have restarted and have unplugged and powered up.

iMac, iOS 10.3, 21.5" iMac Late 2013, 2.7GHZ

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re having trouble opening Safari. I’m happy to help. To start, I suggest checking the App Store to see if there are any available app updates or macOS updates.


If there are not, you’ll want to reinstall macOS. This should not remove any of your data. You can find instructions here:
