Mojave upgrade bricked my MacBook Pro

Upgrading from 13.6 to Mojave. Downloaded from AppStore. Install is in loop, ~20 minutes of apple logo and progress bar stuck at ~95% followed by black screen, then repeat. Option-Cmdr-R and Cmd-R tried with no effect.

Macbook is late2016.

Mojave Install Problems I have been trying for months to successfully install Mojave. Each time it seems to be nearly fully installed, but on a final reboot the computer hangs with the Apple logo and progress bar complete. I've had to reinstall with a High Sierra Time Machine backup every time. Out of desperation, I formatted the hard drive and did a clean install of Mojave. Install went fine until I went to import all my applications and settings from the Time Machine backup. After several hours transferring information, the same thing happened when it looked like a final boot: Apple logo and complete progress bar. I left it overnight to see if it would finally boot up into Mojave, but no. Obviously something is preventing my MacBook from booting into Mojave, but what could it be?

MacOS Mojave install upgrade hung up Hey all! I’ve got an iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015 with El Capitan (had needed it for older version of ProTools), and I’m stuck in the middle of a Mojave OS upgrade. I started it approximately 60 hours ago, and it’s still stuck on the black screen with white Apple logo, and an “calculating estimated time” beneath it. The progress bar has been stuck at about 1/3 since I checked in on it 54 hours ago. I’m only on here posting about it as I’ve seen a few relatable threads, but the solutions have been mixed: let it ride, and/or force a restart in recovery mode. Any ideas on how much longer I should let it go before pulling the plug? I’ve got a time machine backup ready to go if need be.

Finally found a solution that worked but it was traumatic. On the recommendation of apple support, erased the entire hard drive and installed Mojave on a clean disk then restored files from time machine. Took a while since restore is no fine grained, it is basically built on restoring categories of files rather than individual files. Runs well in Mojave after a weekend rebuild effort.
