I can’t  change my Apple ID email

I had 2 Apple IDs and I deleted one of them because I don’t need two accounts. Now I want to add the email of the deleted account to my main account and I get messege that this email is already in use, although I got a confirmation mail from Apple that the account had permanentely deleted.

So what now, I can’t use that email anymore?

No, once an e-mail address has been used as an Apple ID, or as a rescue e-mail associated with an Apple ID, that e-mail address cannot be used again for one year after you stop using it as the Apple ID or rescue.
