It seems to happen randomly and persist for a few seconds. One of the triggers I found is to increase or decrease brightness from touch bar. I tried to reset PRAM & SMC, none works.

There is still automatic brightness change - that works on iMacs.
Try turning OFF the box that says : "Automatically adjust brightness",
in System Preferences->Displays.
Also, at least one user affected by this said it did not occur in Safe Mode; that points to possible causes being related to third party software. It may be worth running Etrecheck and looking for something suspect in the report - maybe some old software, or maybe some system modification that wreaks havoc.

Disabling "automatically adjust brightness" did the trick for me as well.
I do have Datacolor SpyderPro 4 software installed for color management, but as the SpyderPro 4 isn't plugged in, it shouldn't be doing anything other than ensuring the calibrated color profile remains installed.
This problem disappeared after turning off the "automatically adjust brightness" function.

The flickering occurs when Automatic Brightness changes how bright the display is.
I can enforce the effect by putting my hand over the front camera which makes the system dim the display. It flickers while dimming and also while getting brighter again. Disabling the feature is not a solution for me, as I like to use this feature And it saves battery. Can be quite annoying whilst working in an environment where the light changes.
I cannot confirm this was not a problem before Mojave 10.14.1as I have just received the Notebook and performed a full clean install via USB. The PRAM and SMC reset was done before the fresh install and I tried them both again to fix this problem. Nothing helped. I do not have the issue with Mojave 10.14.1 on my older 2013 MacBook Pro. Hope Apple will fix this within the next Mojave Update. (Please?)
The temporary solution so far is to turn off automatic graphic switching.
I did not have this issue with 10.14, but since I updated to 10.14.1 I now have this issue with my Thuderbolt Display connected to my MacBook Pro. I have disabled the auto brightness for the display, but the random flicker is still there.....

I am having this same issue with an iMac 27 (Late 2015) with the 5K Retina display. The temporary solutions that have been listed here don't work on iMacs (no auto graphic switching options). Has Apple offered any responses to anyone on this issue?
I have the exact same problem. Tried reseting everything. In Safe Mode the problem disappears. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
