Syncing iBooks from iOS 12 and Sierra
Is there any way to sync notes and progress from iPad to Sierra's iBooks apart from downgrading iPad to iOS 11 ?
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013), macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

The same issue here. Dear Apple, this is the start of the end using your products. This sync is a small thing and could run on old macs. Its just you want to annoy people and push them to buy new macs because of these small things suddenly not running. Its ridiculous.

I was surprised and disappointed that they have broken syncing between iBooks iOS 12 and High Sierra. My Mac can't upgrade to Mojave, and I have a huge library of heavily annotated iBooks. So like you, I was hoping that somebody would come up with a workaround.
Got the same issue. iBooks (many of which are annotated pdf's for my business) that I can now only access from an iPad or iPhone, because my iMac and MacBook are 2011 and can't be upgraded to Mojave. Apple is not thinking of business users on this one!!
You should still be able to access from them from your desktop and laptop, it's just that annotations won't sync back and forth from those machines to your phone and tablet. Theoretically, the PDF's could be less of a problem than the ebooks, because alternative PDF readers with free cloud syncing (eg Adobe Acrobat) are easier to find than alternative ebook readers that sync. Having said that, it still divides your syncing ebook/PDF library in two, which is rather irritating.
If we have to use a couple different services then we are approaching the Android system and that starts to nullify the advantages of the ecosystem that Apple is supposed to embody. The beauty of being able to have a living document or book being read/modified on all devices has been destroyed by this approach.
I have 3 macs, 2 iPads, 3 iPhones.
Why do I buy a new Mac if old one works fine. Apple’s fake strategy to annoy loyal customers.
I am getting annoyed, possibly move on to android devices as I upgrade.
Correct! Agreed!
