Font size on Mojave news app too small on my 27" Mac. Options under view are all greyed out. How to increase font size so I can use this terrific app?

I posted my previous post in feedback too.

And dialabrain is right, once you select a story you can type command+ two or three times to increase the font size of that specific story. Helpful but annoying if you have to do that for every story, which you do.

If you change the font size in Safari by clicking the "aA" icon (you may have to "Customize Toolbar..." to add the "aA" icon) and then go to another story in that same tab, the font size remains unchanged. This is very convenient.

I'd love to see that feature added to Mojave's News app. I will send feedback to Apple.

Since I had to replace my trusty old non-retina 27" iMac with a Retina one I've figured out a workaround that works for me:

I've selected this in the System/Disiplay preference pane:

User uploaded file

and activated zoom scaling in the System/Accessability preference pane:User uploaded file

When I want to zoom in closer I hold down the Option key and scroll with my Magic Mouse.

So some combination of these might work for you.

Thanks. I know that Retina displays are more pixel dense than non-Retina displays. In simpler terms, the pixels are much, much smaller. That means that all developers must take into account the smaller pixels when they develop applications and web pages for consumption or use on Retina displays, and create images at much higher resolutions and set text at much higher sizes than usual so that they appear normally when viewed on Retina displays. Apple, it seems, did not do that with their own News.app, resulting in text sizes that are almost all but illegible. As others have mentioned, one can increase the size of type while reading individual articles to compensate. That's no help at all in trying to identify interesting articles to read from the Home page, where the size is not able to be adjusted. Or, one could use the Zoom feature in a pinch (though that's not a great solution because the type becomes fuzzy as one zooms in).

On the Retina display display of my MacBook Pro, the headline font size is about the equivalent of 6 point type. The article summaries are equivalent to about 4 points. Almost worse than the fact that, on the iPad in Landscape orientation, there is no way to hide the sidebar, on the Mac, it can be hidden but, when it is, the space it occupied just becomes blank space. Yes, once a user has opened an article to read, they can enlarge the type. But that sure doesn't do anything to help one find an article they want to read when the type is so small on the "headlines" page. As much as Apple touts the News app and its arrival on the Mac, I really can't believe they didn't test the app better before release.

Apple! You provide zooming options in Safari that I love and use every day. I can double tap my trackpad with two fingers in Safari and a column of text instantly fills my screen. Super. I love that!

I can also click the "aA" icon two or three Times and all the fonts in the webpage increase in size. I love that too!

Yet Mojave's new News app provides exactly zero options for increasing the font size. I don't love that. Some Apple developer, almost certainly someone with younger eyes than mine, someone very likely using a screen size bigger than mine, has decided that the font size News uses is fine, or good enough.

Gahhh!

Actually, I find the News app unusable in its current state. When opening the app (main page, gateway...) the fonts are incredibly small. I find leaning forward into my 29 inch screen does help. Clicking on a story will allow increase in font size but going back to the main page, it does the same tiny fonts again.

Also, links within the app don't work

Unfortunate, I enjoy the News app very much. Hope Apple steps up.
