iTunes opening CD/DVD drawer on exit

Each time I exit iTunes the cd/DVD drawer of my external player opens! This never happened before. Any thoughts/solution for this?

iPad, iOS 6.0.1, iTunes 11.0.1.12

I doubt it matters which application is the default. My guess would be that someone had a bright idea to check if a CD was present on closing iTunes and eject if found, with no consideration as to whether others would find that feature convenient. 😕
