My watch is causing electric shock.

my watch is causing me to me electric shocked whenever I touch anything. It’s not a small electric shock, it’s very intense and hurts quite a bit. I went on to send my phone in for repair, filled out all the forms, got to the end and apple want to charge me nearly $400 JUST TO SEND IT AND GET LOOKED AT! I was happy to pay postage and handling but nearly $400 is a joke, I may as well just buy a new watch! All I want to know is why my watch is doing this and what I am meant to do about it. The watch is only under 2 years old and I take great care of it.

i tested it, just to make sure it wasn’t in my head. I wore the watch for a week and EVERY DAY I was being electric shocked by everything. I have now not worn it for 3 days and I haven’t been shocked once.

I am am getting very frustrated as I love my watch and I usually wear it every day. Now I am not able to wear it as it is physically hurting me.

To underscore DT8709’s very good suggestion, it’s really important you tell them it’s a safety issue. When you asked for repair, then they care about whether it’s within your warranty period, and will charge you if it isn’t. But a safety issue will have them concerned. This will help you because they will probably not charge you. And if they’re able to replicate the shocks in their own testing, it’s very likely they’ll replace it for free because the watch is defective and they don’t want the risk of anyone using it.

Call into Apple support at 1800myapple and ask to speak to senior advisor regarding a safety issue in getting shocked by the watch. They will probably give you 2 options mail it in or bring it to a store. Apple will evaluate it, and if it is truely a manufacter defect you may get a repair or replacement free of charge. I stress may. The watch is over a year old and does not fall under limited warranty. So it will be up to the repair depot to make that decision. They will send you a email letting you know what their evaluation is and what your options are before paying anything
