Purchased Ringtones not Playing.

I have a ringtone that I purchased from the iTunes Store that I have always used as my text tone. Recently, my text tone began defaulting to the "Note" tone upon receiving texts. I still have the tone selected when I go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Text Tone. I've tried deleting the file and re-downloading from the store but nothing seems to be working.


Please help as I would love to be able to personalize my phone again. Thanks!

I attempted to remove the tone using the manual method in iTunes that you described. I switched my settings to manually manage my files, deleted the tone, then synced again, but the file comes right back. Any thoughts, or will I have to manage the file via the 3rd party app you described?


Also note, The ringtone was downloaded from the iTunes Store and was not something I created originally.

After further trials, ejecting the device and restarting iTunes after manually deleting the file seems to have worked. I then re-synced my iPhone and the Tone file reappeared but is now playing when I receive a message.
