What is my screen time password?

I didn’t set up a screen time password but it seems I am required to enter it anyway in order to make changes. Is there a default password?

Hi, Jga154!

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. If I understand your post, you're trying to make settings adjustments but are prompted for a Screen Time passcode that you don't remember setting up. I'm happy to help!

Screen Time is a great new feature that couples parental controls/restrictions with features that help you manage what you (or your kids) use your devices for, and when you can use them. These restrictions are not enabled by default, and there is no default passcode for them. You are able to choose to set a Screen Time passcode under Settings > Screen Time > Use Screen Time Passcode. If you do not remember setting a passcode, it may have been done by you inadvertently or by someone else who had access to your device.

If you do not know what the passcode is, you can remove it by restoring your device to factory settings and setting it up as a new device (restoring a backup will not remove the passcode): If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support . More information can be found here: Use Screen Time to get insights about how you use your device - Apple Support .

Screen Time also helps you mange purchases from the iTunes and App Stores. If you're being prompted for a password (which can include numbers and letters) versus a passcode (just numbers), try your Apple ID password.

Cheers!
