Badge notification on settings icon

For both of you, reboot your phones:

Press and quickly release the volume up button

Press and quickly release the volume down button

Press and keep holding the power button (keep holding past the swipe to shut down) until you see the Apple Logo

Let go when you see the Apple Logo and your phone will reboot

See the notification badge is gone when your phone comes back up.

If your iPhone is up to date with the iOS and you are seeing a badge notification in the Settings app, it is very possible that it is notifying you to complete setting up your phone. Did you pass by setting up Siri, or Apple Pay, or any of the other choices that you are presented with the initial activation of the phone? If you decide not to set these up in the initial activation and tap on the "Set up later in Settings", you will see a badge to complete the setup of the phone for a few times of opening the phone.

I had the same problem too and was driving me nuts.. tried searching everywhere for answers and found this.. tried what most ppl said here n still doesn’t work...

Finally, i just signed out my Apple ID from the phone and signed back in, and it disappeared!! Yay!! Try it!

Go to Settings > General > About and tap Software Update

Sign out of Apple ID (iCloud) and sogn back in. It will go away!

signing out and signing in fixed it for me. Make sure you have the ability to obtain the apple secure sign in key code. I had to text my wife to get from my iPad.

Go to settings and sign out of Apple ID (iCloud) and sign back in.

hello everyone,

i have an iphone x and there has been an error.

on settings - general - update there is a notification badge number (that i should update) but there is nothing to update since when i go and press update it tells me that the current version 12.0 is the correct one.

but it looks like its a bug stuck in there...

it tells me to update but there is nothing to update.

the notification though is still there...

what can i do?

Thank you. Have been bugged by this since I got my XS Max in December. Had to log in and out of my Apple ID twice, but finally it’s gone!

I have an iPhone X and I am experiencing the same thing. The badge notification has been there since I received the notification of iOS 12.1.1. After I updated to it, it never went away. I tried doing force restart to no avail. Badge notification still there, driving me crazy lol

Stupid question: I’m having the same problem and don’t actually know how to sign out and back in. I get a scary message about “data removed from this iPhone will be stored in the cloud,” when I try it the most obvious way. Should I be worried that a sign out is going to wipe my phone?
