Macbook Warranty

Hello, I was wondering if the standard 1 year warranty that comes with the MacBook Pro covered drops and accidental damages?

Hi there!

The standard warranty does not cover any form of accidental damage - it generally only covers instances of manufacture-caused incidents. For cover for other forms of damage you will require an AppleCare plan.

Hope this helps,

Stated the other way, the warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship for the warranty period.

By that definition screen breakage and drops are clearly NOT defects.

--------

In the US, Macs are transitioning to AppleCare+, which has two important changes:

• it includes a few service "incidents" with modest co-pays, like an iPhone AppleCare+ plan.

• You MUST sign up within 60 days, or the program is dead to you (old Applecare allowed you to go a full year before signup).
