Region content preview ?

Region content preview ?

Yes, i'm busy for a new poster, but i just wanted to ask if this was possible.

Ive been using Logic for many years but never been able to find out how to change the region contents preview from notation to piano roll, so that my midi regions show a piano roll style preview instead of the regular musical notation, when in the arrange window.
Ive been told on here that this is possible, but i'm pretty sure it's not.

Please help.

MacPro, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I take it that you're talking about what happens when you 2-click on a region?

If so... look in Preferences > Global > Editing, "Double-clicking a MIDI Region Opens..." and select the matrix editor.

I don't think he's referring to double clicking, just what's in the region when displayed in the Arrange.

I too am curious because that is how I edit MIDI. Notation....not so good at that.

I see... Well, there is no option that controls the behavior of what's displayed. The behavior is to show notes when the zoom level is sufficient to display that. If you're zoomed out far enough you see nothing.

Would be a nice option to have tho.

yes, you got it thats exactly what i meant.
i didnt think it was an available feature,and its a real shame its not there, ive been awaitng this feature since 1997.

The funny thing is Garageband (which is based on Logic's code) has this display option as it's standard.

Yup, I agree that this would be a really nice feature, particularly if you could edit straight from the arrange. I know this is a feature in other DAWs. Bring on 7.3!
