When I import loops into GarageBand, the text is grey and it won’t let me drag it into the song. How to fix?

Using GarageBand on iPhone X, iOS 12. I’ve tried importing the file numerous times in different formats, such as .wav, .mp3 etc., but upon importing the file, the text is grey instead of black and it won’t let me preview it or drag it into the song. This hasn’t happened to me before until now. If anyone knows how to fix then do tell.

I’m importing from the files app. About the loop being a few bars long and in .caf format, I have imported full audio file that are more than a minute long and are in .mp3 format, and those have worked out fine. This is exactly the same type of thing, a normal .mp3 file over 1 minute long. Shouldn’t it work the same?

I don't know. Perhaps GarageBand doesn't like the format if the particular file you're trying to add. Are you sure it has the right file extension? I've seen cases of .m4a files labelled as .mp3 and vice versa. Some software will accept them anyway, and be able to play them, others can't/won't.
