Airport wall bracket

Hi,

I am looking to buy a wall bracket, I have seen a metal one "HIDEit Mounts Air-XT Wall (White) Bracket For Apple AirPort Extreme 6th Generation, AirPort Time Capsule 5th Gen (2013-Current)". It says "Thoroughly tested to ensure no Wi-Fi signal loss, the internal Wi-Fi Antennas are located at the top of the device where we carefully leave free from any obstruction." Is that the case? Is the aerial only on the top 2/3rds of the Extreme, and will it not be affected by a metal bracket?

Thanks

iMac, macOS High Sierra (10.13.4)

The 6 WiFi antennas are all located right up at the top of the "tower"..... where they belong....so as long as the antennas have a clear look into the room, the bracket will not interfere with the signal.

Make no difference at all.. unless the wall has metal in it or behind the plaster. (some waterproof plaster is sealed with foil).

Here is a pic from the ifixit instructions.

Antennas are in a metal tray and only occupy the top 1/4" (actually a bit less.. )

in the photo the top right wire connection is 2.4ghz.. going around clockwise it alternates.. 5ghz 2.4ghz 5ghz so the bottom left wire connection is 5ghz.

The entire antenna is one dead short on my meter.. but of course at microwave frequency each is designed to 1/4 wave with correct impedance. Mixing the 2.4ghz and 5ghz onto the same piece of metal is why they have all the strange cutouts to allow signals to mix.

This will never work as well as separate antennas for each connection.. which is why most wireless routers still use multiple external antennas.. ugly perhaps but far more effective.
