Electric shocks when holding iPhone X to my ear

Sometimes I feel electric shocks when putting my iPhone X to my ear (using it as a phone). Does anyone else have this problem? One possible explanation is that a hair on my ear—I've got one or two small, long hairs on my ears—might get into loudspeaker thus provoking an electric shock. Any ideas?

I just talked with Apple on the phone, and they think my problem might be due to static. Usually the static would disappear when holding the phone, but I'm using a silicone cover, so I'm not actually touching the phone itself.

However, I'm touching the phone briefly when dialing or accepting an incoming call, so that explanation doesn't really hold up. And I've never heard of phones getting this amount of static charge. The discharge feels really strong. Who has experienced statically charged phones before?
