Quick-look spacebar key stopped working on apple photos

I upgraded my MacBook Pro 15 retina to Mojave v.10.14, and the quick-look spacebar key stopped working on apple photos! Has it happened to somebody else? Is there a cure? I used it a lot. Thanks.

You can also double-tap the trackpad to quick look the photos.

The current list of Photos keyboard shortcuts is here: Photos keyboard shortcuts on Mac - Apple Support

It still lists the spacebar as the keyboard shortcut to open and close a photos.

Perhaps this change is not the intended behaviour:

Open or close a photo

Double-click a photo thumbnail or select a thumbnail and press Space bar. Double-click or press Space bar again to close.

Another keyboard shortcut "R" (for the Retouch tool) also stopped working, but is still listed in the Photos user guide.
