How to play an iMovie on a PC.

I've made an iMovie for a friend and transferred it to a thumb drive but it won't play on her PC. How can I save it to play on a PC from a thumb drive?

Hi, stacy,

The movie won't play on a PC because it is not in a format that is supported by the video player that is used by the PC. Try converting the movie to WMV format with the free download Handbrake. Then see if it will play.

Oh - forgot to clarify - the video will play in a media player like VLC or even the built-in one for Windows - the article is just "geared" towards playing the video on a Mac.

I would give it a try & let us know if exporting as Quicktime doesn't work so we can find another way.

You need to export the video so it can be used on a PC. I think the instructions here should help: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH22938?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
