Need help with “Setup Failed 301014” on a Homepod

I recently bought a homepod, it was on sale so I didn’t hesitate and grab it but to my dismay when I tried to set it up, I got the “Setup Failed 301014” error message. I already browsed through the community with the same problem but got me nowhere. I tried everything, vpn, apn, disregard enable, apple id and icloud same user, country USA, called support but they don’t have an answer. Was forwarded to an advisor and she also did not have an answer.

I’m using an iphone 6 ios 11.2.5. I’m also using Tmobile mobile hotspot it is like wifi where you can install 3rd party vpn which i tried tunnelbear but got a different error 301009 i think. I don’t if that wifi is what is causing this problem. Will it work if I update to ios 12? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
