After downloading Mojave my Photoshop CS5 doesn't open. Have tried downloading Java runtime 6, but when I try to install this on my hard drive it is greyed out. Which means now I cannot work with CS5 anymore. Is there a work round for this?

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), macOS Mojave (10.14)

Apple has not yet, (and may not) updated their Legacy Java 6 solution to include Mojave. And Adobe has not regression tested the now ancient CS5 against any version of OSX/macOS for years. There is a real possibility that CS5 is now toast on Mojave, and Adobe now requires 2018 versions of their products for Mojave compatibility. The RoaringApps site has no information on CS5 compatibility with Mojave.

Your options at this point are:

  • Adobe subscription to 2018 products
  • Non-Adobe replacement applications (non-subscription, and as needed). Most have free trials from their vendor site where not free.:
    • Affinity Designer
    • Affinity Photo
    • Affinity Publisher (when out of beta)
    • GIMP (free)
    • Pixelmator
    • PDF Editor

      PDFpen/PDFpenPro

    • Other as needed
  • Boot into a separate partition of a version of macOS that CS5 is fully compatible without Apple security or browser updates.
