iTunes freezing when using airplay 2 on Sonos Play5

Hi everyone. When I want to listen to a podcast on iTunes using my Sonos Play5 speakers, iTunes always freezes. For example, I would connect iTunes to my speakers then double click on a podcast for it to start playing but all I get is the spinning beach ball and I have to force quit iTunes with activity monitor. I don't have any of these issues with my iPhones so it's not a wifi or Sonos problem. Any suggestions of what it could be? Thanks!

Can you play that podcast on the Mac without using the Sonos speakers (e.g. using internal speakers)?

Can you play non-podcast local content to your Sonos speakers? (e.g. a downloaded song)

Can you play non-podcast streaming content to your Sonos speakers? (e.g. a radio station)

Can you play that podcast from another device to the Sonos speakers?

What version macOS and iTunes are on the Mac?
