Hi Yakov, I know how to take a screenshot. I was specifically asking about taking one within iMessage. That option has disappeared from the right-click menu in Messages. I figured it out though: take a screenshot and a thumbnail appears on your desktop. Then drag the thumbnail into your message window.

Try Shift + Command + 5. Put "Messages" in options, and it will stay by default. It takes maybe one second more than before.
If you use Shift-Command-4 to take a screenshot now, it shows up in the bottom right corner of your screen. You can drag and drop that into the iMessage text chat and it will automatically add like the old screenshots.

You can take a screenshot of any app by pressing Shift + Command + 4, then pressing Space, and then clicking on a desired window. This will capture only the selected window.
You can also take a screenshot of the entire screen by pressing Shift + Command + 3.

Apple, please bring this feature back. I am so incredibly frustrated it is gone. I used it all the time. The new way to do it is many more steps and half the time when I drag the screen shot to my message, even through the green + is there, it doesn't go into my message and then the little box at the bottom of my screen is gone, so to try and do it again is even more steps. ARGH!!!
Yes! Please bring this feature back!!
I agree. When using screen capture from Messages, it doesn’t seem to be saving a copy on my drive. Would like to see this feature return
Apparently they removed it and it's hugely frustrating. What a simple and easy feature to share work with colleagues - I hate apple sometimes.
This is the only thing holding me back from upgrading to mojave.
Bring this back! I misssssss it! It was so convenient. It was one more thing that set Apple apart from everyone else.
@ahuntsick - It's not just a second more. It opens in a new iMessage. Then you have to copy it, delete the new message and paste it where you wanted it originally.
