How and when do iPhone apps move to icloud?

How and when do iPhone apps move to iCloud because I can download them when there is a cloud symbol but I don't know how to put them back to the cloud.

When you see a little cloud next to an app, it means that the app is not downloaded to the device, but is stored in iTunes in the Cloud. To move an app back to iTunes in the Cloud after downloading it to your device, go to Settings>General>iPhone Storage, and scroll down to the Apps list. Select the app you want to offload back to iTunes in the Cloud, and tap on the App name. That will take you to a screen that has the option to "Offload App". You will get a message that it will remove the app from your device (which it does), but the icon will remain on your Home screen and will now have the little cloud icon next to it.

If you want it removed from your Home screen, lightly touch the icon on the Home screen until the icons wiggle. Then tap on the little "x" in the upper left-hand corner to remove it from the screen.

The emails you are receiving are generated automatically by the Apple Support Communities site based on your Settings. Tap on your User name to go to your Profile page, and under Personal Settings at the bottom, tap on Preferences and uncheck "Content I'm Following" under Email Preferences.

Apps do not move to iCloud. They are offloaded from the iPhone, and can be re-downloaded by tapping on them when they have the cloud icon. They will then download directly from the App Store at that point.

Apps will offload automatically if you are running out of room on the device and the have not been used for a while.

You can manually offload Apps by going to Settings->General->iPhone Storage. Tap on an App in the list, and then on "Offload App". It will be removed and the cloud icon will appear over its icon.

You can go to Settings->iTunes & App Stores, and enable or disable "Offload Unused Apps".
