MacBook Pro Display Compatibility

I cracked the retina display on my early 2013 MacBook Pro. I have an old MBP mid 2009 that is dead (graphics card burned out after replacement program) with a LED screen. Is the older LED display compatible with the 2013 MBP so I can switch them?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

It is extremely unlikely that a screen from a different model-year MacBook Pro will fit, cool itself properly, have the right connectors, or work at all on a different model-year MacBook Pro. In this case you are talking about retina Vs non-retina. That has no hope of working.

You may be able to use an external display to get by for a while.

Illustrated tear-down instructions are available from sites like fixit.com. In the US, these Macs are old enough that whole easily removable used parts (such as complete screen assembly) are bought and sold every week on eBay.

There are also small-scale services that will do the whole swap for you with a harvested used part, and may be interested in buying your dead computers for parts.
