I downloaded the watchOS 5.3 update and am still having the same issue!
I think there are two possible causes,
1. If this is the same tone you get when first connecting the charger, the charger may be disconnecting then reconnecting (at least logically if not physically), so it would be worth testing with a different USB power adapter and magnetic cable, according to what you have available. I know you have the adapter which charges your iPhone, so that would be perfect for testing.
2. Something actually wrong in the watch, either software or hardware. Software is a prime suspect because it started with the update. You could try unpairing and re-pair to your phone again to force reinstalling the Watch software. If that still doesn't work the last resort is Contact Apple Support and arrange to get it checked by Apple. Don't just skip to calling Apple Support, make sure you already tried the earlier steps because they will want to try these first.
Don't forget you can charge your watch at any time, you don't need to wait until overnight for testing the fixes!
Hi Ash. I have the same problem. Can you tell me where you found a stainless steel charger?
Do you have any idea where to source a stainless steel charger?
Thanks mattd313. I’ve also tried several other chargers and unfortunately the problem remains.
I downloaded the new software and it’s still happening.
Surprising they gave you a new watch without hassle. I had to fight them pretty hard.
Did they give you a brand new one? And is the charger new as well?
I have a series 1 and started experiencing this issue a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks fly rules. Where did you purchase an "original stainless steel charger"? I haven't seen one.
I just brought one from apple £29 and guess what it has sorted the chime problem, I'm over the moon. I think Argos sell them too.
Rubber bumper
No humming or anything from my unit. Even with an iPhone 11, air pods, and watch charging at the same time
We tried one last thing omitted before...setting the watch up as "new" instead of restored from a backup. Same issue, though. And this is post the 6.1.1 update.
I plan to test this out by using the high current charger on the watch when I get back home. I'll post more results then.
Oh omniscient one; BS!
Same problem with the stainless steel
Continuous chime when charging
