thanks gail, but somehow i still have a problem i have apple music over a couple of devices and my iphone but the old iphone 4 i have i wanted to load with music and keep in my car.
I now have been able to add about five albums and then cannot add any more, regardless of what i have tried.
can you offer any advice?

I expect my iPhone 4 would have the same access to the icloud storgage that my apple music subscription gives to my iphone se and ipad and ipod they benefit from unlimited access to the cloud storage, my iphone 4 cannot connect to my apple music subscription in the cloud
What iOS are you running on the iPhone 4? Apple Music does use iCloud Music Library. Do you have that turned on in Settings on the iPhone 4? Do you see that option under Settings>Music (Turn on iCloud Music Library)?
And the storage I'm referring to is the storage on your iOS device, not iCloud. You indicated that you added five albums. Are you trying to download those albums, or simply create a playlist that will stream? How are you adding these albums?

i did review the link in the original response, my iPhone an iPhone 4 does not have the page you describe, the storage on my phone is capable of more albums, the albums i have been able to download are items which i paid for through the itunes store. this apple device runs on IOS 7.1.2
My issue is, unlike my current iphone se, my ipod touch and ipad, they can access my apple music and stream or download any albums i want, but i cannot carry out the same tasks via my iphone 4 and there is internal storage space in my iphone 4 and via i cloud.

OK, so you are indicating that you actually have been able to connect to Apple Music on that device, but just cannot download all of the music you want? If so, check your iPhone Storage to see if you have enough room on the device to add more music: Settings>General>Storage & iCloud Usage>Manage Storage.

Well, you can download any albums or songs that you have purchased by following the instructions in this support article: Download past purchases.
You cannot use Apple Music on your iPhone 4 since it is not able to run iOS 8.4, which is the minimum iOS required to use Apple Music on a device.
