After I add the picture how do I change background color

I’m creating a music video with only music and the cover cd - still image- square shaped. The background is black and I don’t know how to turn it into a white background

Hi,

The black bars are added by iMovie to fit the square photo into iMovie's 16:9 screen aspect ratio. The color cannot be changed in iMovie. However, you can drag a white background into the timeline and place your square photo above it. Then select the photo and insert it as a Picture in Picture. (Click on the icon that looks like overlapping squares in the tool bar at the top of your screen.) Adjust the size and position of the photo, click on the blue reset circle in the upper right of your screen to apply the settings, and you should have a photo on a white background.
