I cannot download or update my apps

I keep being sent to the billing page every time I try to update my applications. Then it tells me my billing information is invalid despite having not changed a thing.

I still get the same problem when I remove my billing information. What is the problem?

The following support article provides some troubleshooting steps to try for this behavior:

If your payment method is declined, or you have a billing issue with a previous purchase in the iTunes Store - Apple Support

When confirming your Apple ID payment information, be sure that your account information matches what is on file with your financial institution. If you have an unpaid bill, this would need to be resolved prior to being able to update or download apps. When you do update your billing information, the App Store or iTunes Store will automatically attempt to charge for any outstanding orders.
