No WIFI and no Internet Connection after Mojave installation

Hi,

after installing Mojave, my iMAC does not recognize neither the WIFI nor the LAN adapter any more. When starting, from an external bootable disk with a copy of my previous system everything is fine.

Any idea?

Cheers

Please try the following, in order. Stop at any step where the Internet connectivity issue is resolved:

  1. Boot up your Mac in Safe Mode.

What: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac- Apple Support

How: At boot-up, hold down the <shift> key until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

  2. Run Apple Diagnostics to uncover any hardware issues with your Mac.
  3. Boot up your Mac in Recovery or Internet Recovery Mode.
    • What: About macOS Recovery- Apple Support
    • How:

For Recovery Mode: Immediately after pressing the power button, hold down the <command><R> keys until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

For Internet Recovery Mode: Immediately after pressing the power button, hold down the <option><command><R> keys until the spinning globe appears on the screen.

When at the initial Recovery Mode screen, select the Disk Utility option. Run Disk Utility > First Aid to verify the startup disk's integrity.

    • Why: To verify the startup disk integrity using the Disk Utility's First Aid option.
  4. Boot up your Mac in Recovery or Internet Recovery Mode a second time.
    • Why: To verify the integrity of the built-in AirPort wireless and Ethernet connectors.
    • At the Terminal command prompt, enter: ifconfig -a <return>
    • We want to verify the status of both the Ethernet (en0) & wireless (en1) of your Mac. When properly enabled, the value for "flags" should be UP and for "status" ACTIVE
    • If either are not enabled, then enter the following Terminal commands:
      • For Ethernet: sudo ifconfig en0 inet up <return>
      • For wireless: sudo ifconfig en1 inet up <return>
    • Run ifconfig -a again and check the status flags for each of these. Did they change to enabled now? If not, go on to the next step.
  5. Make a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.

You can only make 1-week ahead appointments either via the web link above or AppleCare phone support. The appointment timeframe is longer if you go in-person to an Apple Store.

Hello Mario Batz,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that your iMac no longer recognizes your Wi-Fi or LAN adapter after upgrading to macOS Mojave. Being able to connect your iMac to Wi-Fi is important and you've come to the right place for help.

I would like to start by having you reset the NVRAM on your iMac, then test if you're able to connect to Wi-Fi:

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

If the behavior persists, reset your SMC as well:

Keep us posted with what happens from here.

Cheers!
