AirDrop not working after OS upgrades

After upgrading to iOS 12 and High Sierra (yes, a year behind), AirDrop has stopped working. Neither my iPhone nor my iMac see each other.

Each say they are connected to each other through Bluetooth. They are both on the same wifi network. I have AirDrop on each set to Everyone. As per Apple's instructions — Use AirDrop on your Mac - Apple Support — on the Mac I have "Block all incoming connections" turned off and on the phone I am not using Personal Hotspot.

Any ideas?

Apple Support (thanks, Tom!) solved this for me. My Mac's Messages app was blocking my personal phone numbers, as spam. I certainly don't recall blocking them, and the issue came up only recently after upgrading the OS. But perhaps I had earlier, and it wasn't a problem until the upgrade.

Anyway, in my case the answer was to go into the Messages preferences, click the iMessage tab, then the Blocked tab, and then to delete my phone numbers from the list of spam numbers.

AirDrop is magical once more.

I just tried sending a photo from my iPhone (iOS 12) to my Mac (MacOS Mojave) using AirDrop, and it worked just fine.

iPhone and Mac do not typically connect using Bluetooth. Yes, I suspect that's the cause of your difficulty. Whatever you're trying to accomplish with this Bluetooth connection can be done some other way. Indeed, my iPhone and Mac do not show up as being paired.

Anyone else have any ideas? The iPhones in our house can see each other but they no longer see the iMac, and it no longer sees them, since upgrading to High Sierra. Bluetooth and wifi are on, "Block all incoming connections" is off in Firewall, as recommended, and AirDrop is set on all devices to allow being discovered by Everyone.
