.hotfile.btree not "cloning" when using Carbon Copy Cloner

Hello all:

I was making a bootable backup of my 10.3.9 hardrive using CCCloner and got a message that ".hotfile.btree. " was unable to be copied/clone. I went ahead with the clone by skipping, and then went did a search for this file. It is an invisable item and I don't have access privilages to copy it.

My cloned hard drive booted OK, but I'm guessing I need this file for the system to work right.

Any suggestions welcomed? TIA

TiBook G4 667, AlBook 1.25, Mac OS X (10.2.x), Also running OS X 10.3.9

Quite right. It wouldn't do any good if it were copied, since it is volume-specific. OS X will generate a new one for you, in fact it probably has since you have already booted from this volume.

To see it, open the Terminal (from /Applications/Utilities) and copy and paste this, followed by a return:

ls -l /.hotfiles.btree

The act of cloning makes the information in that file out of date, so it needs to be regenerated as you use the new disk. Copying from one disk to another could well cause you problems.
