Magic Keyboard

I have just bought a new Mac which came with a magic keyboard and mouse. The problem I have is when using the caps lock button sometimes the light will not come on and the capital letters won't appear on screen. If I tap the caps lock up to 3 times it will function. However this is frustrating as by the time I have realised I have already typed text further along which then appears in caps when I DON'T WANT IT TO. i have to go back and change it, see what I mean? Is this a common fault or should I take my keyboard back?

Thank you Malcolm.

That does make sense as I have a similar issue with my iPad, as does my wife and a friend who has a Mac air. It just feels strange after all these years having to think about pressing the caps button for longer than what I am used to.

You advice has saved me a trip back to apple, thanks.

The Caps Lock key is designed to require a slightly longer tap than other keys to help prevent accidental activation. If a long tap doesn't always work, then the keyboard is defective.
