Can I enable AVB/EAV mode on my Mac Pro 5,1 (mid 2010) running on high sierra?

Because in the Midi Audio Settup help it says:

"Click Assist Me if AVB isn’t enabled. Make sure the AVB/EAV Mode checkbox is selected in the Hardware pane of Advanced Ethernet preferences. If the checkbox is dimmed, click the Configure pop-up menu, choose Manually, then select the checkbox. Click OK, then click Apply."

But I simply do not see any box to check in. It doesn't appear to be available at all. Is there something I'm missing or overlooked??

I also thought it would work as well since it has (2) gigabit ethernet ports. Im trying to connect this presonus digital mixer to my mac pro but it doesn't seem to want to connect. And I've tried doing everything both Apple's and Presonus's guides say to do to set up this AVB device. But reading it again, it does say on the Presonus guide:

".....Any Mac with a Thunderbolt connection should provide hardware support for AVB.

"

but then goes on to say:

"If your computer does not have a built-in Ethernet port, you will also need a

Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter. USB-to-Ethernet adapters do not support AVB."

Which makes me think "well I have two ethernet ports, so it should connect." So I'm guessing since my Mac Pro doesn't have a thunderbolt port (only mini display ports) then that's probably why it isn't able to enable AVB.

But then I

read in a statement from Presonus stating that this mixer hasn't been able to connect to a Macs using High Sierra. And that the best Mac OS to use with this mixer is Yosemite or El Capitan. So I decided to downgrade. But guess what? Yosemite isn't available for download from the app store and the app store won't let me download El Capitan because I'm on a newer OS. And it's not in my purchase history for download because I upgraded straight to High Sierra from Snow Leopard. Just my luck.

I am not familiar with this function but it seems it only works on certain models of Mac with certain types of network interface.

I can confirm it will work on Mac equipped with a Thunderbolt2 interface and using Apple's Thunderbolt2 Ethernet adapter, e.g. a MacBook Pro from 2015 even when running Mojave. I can also confirm it will not work with a USB-C Ethernet adapter.

I don't know if it will work with the built-in Ethernet on a Mac Pro, I would have expected it should.

It is possible - if you have a suitable video card to upgrade the Mac Pro 2010 to Mojave.

This article includes a direct link to El Capitan - How to upgrade to OS X El Capitan - Apple Support

This one is for Sierra - How to upgrade to macOS Sierra - Apple Support

If it will not download because your running a newer version you might have to create a temporary older boot drive on a different volume.
