Enable Aero Theme

Hello,

I have a Macbook and I installed Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 from the App Store. I have a Windows 7 Professional Desktop pc and when i connect (via the mac to the win7 desktop), the aero theme is disabled! In control panel it says like Some settings are manged by remote desktop or something and it stays on the basic theme. And I want the aero theme in remote desktop. Please help!

I posted this in Microsoft Communities, but after a week i get NO REPLIES!!!! This is really stupid. Since my host is a Mac, I thought I'd get a reply from Apple Discussions 'cause I receive INSTANT replies from people on this forum.

Any Advice?

Are you using Microsoft Remote Desktop 10.2.2 from the Mac App Store? There are some compatiblity fixes in this release for Mojave, and Windows 7, but whether they will resolve your Aero theming in RDP is unknown by me.

That was my experience. It makes sense. Aero graphics are demanding and I imagine would slow a remote connection too much. But, maybe Microsoft has different take on it.

I think moving on is wise. Besides, I suspect not supporting Aero in a screen sharing app is purposeful.

As a guess it's possible Aero is not supported in Microsoft Remote Desktop in order to improve performance.

Well, there were a surfeit of Windoze 7 boxes available here until Microsoft put a deadline on upgrading these to Win 10 for free. Now there are no Win7 boxes to test here either. 😀

I do have a WIndows 7 guest in VMWare Fusion. Unfortunately I don't know whether I can use it to test or how. 😊

Connecting to my Windows 7 guest was a lot easier than I thought. Although the guest has Aero enabled, it is not in Microsoft Remote Desktop. As I suspected.
