Without a Trusted Device or Trusted Phone Number that you can use to receive the Verification Code, there is not much you can do except initiate Account Recovery. This is what Apple has indicated:

If you can’t sign in, reset your password, or receive verification codes, you can request account recovery to regain access to your account. Account recovery might take a few days or longer, depending on the specific account information you can provide to verify your identity.

From this support article: Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support

So, you will have to click on the link in the paragraph from Apple above to initiate Account Recovery.

Best of luck,

Forcing them to go through the account recovery process is cumbersome and time consuming. Why not just add an option to allow the user to be texted an access code?

Nothing ridiculous about any of it. You probably need to read up on Two-Factor Authentication to see what you can do to ensure that you always have a way to receive a Verification Code.

With Two-Factor, you can add as many Trusted Phone numbers to receive your Verification Codes as you wish. You can add other iOS devices, Androids, and landlines. Basically, any phone number that can receive a text or a phone call. The number can be your number, your friend's number, your Mom's number, your sibling's number, or the number of any other person you trust. You do not need an iPhone to receive a Verification Code:

That is not what you stated in your first post. You stated that you couldn't get a verification code because you switched from an iPhone to an Android, and you didn't have your iPhone anymore.

If you are signing your Apple ID into Apple Music, you get a verification code like you would for any other Apple ID sign in process. It has nothing to do with Apple Music specifically. It is the verification code that is sent when you sign your Apple ID in and you have Two-Factor Authentication turned on:

Join Apple Music on your Android phone - Apple Support

And the same article above explains how to sign in if you already have an Apple Music account:

If you already subscribe to Apple Music

Get the Apple Music app from Google Play, then open it. If you see an offer for a trial, tap Sign In in the upper-right corner. Otherwise, tap the menu icon User uploaded file in the upper-left corner, then tap Sign In. Enter the Apple ID and password that you used when you joined Apple Music previously. If you're asked for a verification code, you have two-factor authentication on your Apple ID. Learn about two-factor authentication and what to do if you still can't sign in.

The OP was asking about what do to if you don't have a Trusted Device. You seem to be asking about something else, so if you want help, you are going to have to specify what your issue is. Why can't you sign into Apple Music? What is the specific issue?

Did you de-register your iPhone number (which you are now using as your Android number) from iMessage: https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage/

Also, when you tried to get a Verification Code, and when you didn't get one, did you click on "Didn't Get a Verification Code" to see what your options were?

Did you remove your "Trusted Device" from your Apple account (the old iPhone)?

Did you put any other number in your Trusted Numbers list that you could use? You can use any number - an iPhone, Android, Landline, your best friend's number, your Mom's number, your sibling's number.

What, exactly, have you done to resolve your issue?

Bingo! Through your suggestions I was finally able to find my edit account screen proper (rather than my itunes or basic apple id pages, which seemed to lead in circles). Once I found the command to remove my old iphone from my account the dominoes all fell into place. (Oddly enough I found that my imessage was already turned off though, so it was only my old phone still being on the account that was holding me back). Thank you greatly for the detailed response!

For future reference if anyone else has this problem, the link you want to follow is this. Under Devices, just click on the device you want to remove:

What I'm saying is that the option to receive a test code from to enter does not exist from within the Apple music app. I have no issues getting a text from elsewhere sent to my phone number that works fine but I cannot do this from within Apple music hence I cannot sign in. Hopefully this makes more sense now. This is an application defect not a problem with two factor authentication.

The issue is simply that I am not able to retrieve a verification code from apple when attempting to sign in to apple music. When I enter my user name and password a notice pops up that says a notification code has been sent to your trusted device. There is no option on the screen to request I receive this code in a text message or by some other method instead. I checked my apple iid account settings and ccofirm that I do have my mobile number associated with my account so that should be a valid option for receiving the code. Therefore unless you can tell me where I can retrieve the code I do not have a way to sign in.

I'm sorry, but I believe that you folks still don't have a grasp on this person's issue. Since I'm currently dealing with this same issue, and am similarly angry, I'll try to clarify that the problem is with iMessages over simple sms/text. Sorry for the incoming giant post/rant, but here goes:

I had an iphone, and had subscribed to apple music through my apple account. I also had 2-step verification set up. Simple enough, when you have an iphone (or an apple device that supports imessage). But this phone broke, and rather than continue with an iphone I decided to buy an android. I have the same phone number (the same number set up with my apple id). I have downloaded the Apple Music app, but in attempting to sign in, the 2-step verification process automatically prompts the 6-digit code to be sent AS AN IMESSAGE, rather than a simple text.

The prompt states the following:

"A message with a verification code has been sent to your other devices or to your trusted phone number. Enter the code to continue. If you didn't receive a code ,you can get one from Settings on your trusted device."

...That's it. That's all it says on the app. Well, here's the problem: this is being sent as an Imessage. But I'm having 2 problems with this:

1) I DON'T HAVE MY TRUSTED DEVICE

2) I DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO IMESSAGE.

There are no options to be sent this 6-digit code as a simple text message to my phone. In fact there are no other available options through the app. But, I know this is an available option (along with others) when accessing my apple account on my PC. So, this means this is in fact a separate viable option to be sent this code as a Text, but the option is simply not available on the app itself. Wonderful.

Sooo, this leaves me with a couple of options as I see it, both of which suck big time:

A) Cancel my subscription entirely, then re-subscribe on my android;

B) Go through the whole stupid re-set my account process, which is pointless since I have access to my account currently. I just can't access my trusted device. This probably wouldn't even allow me access through my android anyway.

Either one results in losing all of my playlists and all of my 'saved' music. But there is no other option that I can see. I've made up my mind. Because of Apple's need to use Imessage, I must cancel then re-subscribe. Wish me luck folks
