Can"t install iTunes 7.0.2

Help!

I've been trying to install the latest version of iTunes but when I try and run the package once I get past the software license piece it wont allow me to save the file to the hard drive.

I keep getting the following error message -

"You cannot install itunes on this volume. You are not allowed to install the software on this disk for an unknown reason."

Can anyone please tell me how to fix this?

Regards,

Johnny.

Johnny_Belfast,

Some questions

Is iTunes open in this user, on attempting to install? Or, possibly, still open in another user you have logged out of or "switched" from in Fast User switching?

Is your Macintosh HD appearing in the "Select a destination" dialogue, with a red octagon icon and a white exclamation icon in it?

Thanks for the additional info.

Repaired permissions, tried again to install and I keep getting a "please try installing again" message. I've tried several times but the same msg keeps coming up. BTW, I tried to verify and repair the disk but I received this msg:

"Invalid sibling link
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked
Volume needs repair"

...yet no repair option is available. I'm thinking that this has gone beyond the scope of the iTunes forum, I'll try somewhere else.
